Fans of the ’80s-vintage mechanical crime fighter will go-go for this new animated feature produced for Nickelodeon. Strange transformations and unusual powers have ushered in a new Claw-conceived crime wave in Metro City. As the voice of this new edition’s Gadget, Maurice LaMarche (the voice of Chief in the original cartoon series) does a serviceable Don Adams. The story finds Gadget on the case, but in danger of being upstaged by dashing hero Devon Debonair, who is — surprise, surprise — not who he seems. Meanwhile, Gadget’s trusty, wisecracking Gadgetmobile is also deemed an over-the-hill gas-guzzler and destined for the scrap heap.
